You can strip away the story entirely for God Of Destruction Mode, allowing you to mow down the same boring cities as any other monster in the game. Open them and the illusion is shattered.Īside from the main story mode, there are a handful of other side games to beef up the experience. Close your eyes and it sounds like the Godzilla game of your dreams. That’s a real shame, especially since every conceivable classic sound effect has been included. Sure, you’ll see all those monsters in HD, but the generic and repetitive cityscapes and inexplicably clean urban explosions don’t just feel like a delayed PS3 game at times the blocky graphics look like something from the PS2 era. The designers made fantastic use of their acquired brand they simply failed to create a compelling game to contain it. In a way, that’s what makes it so frustrating so much of it feels right and delivers shivers of nostalgia that I constantly tried to convince myself that I was enjoying the experience more than I actually was. Toss in pretty well every conceivable classic Godzilla monster from Mothra and Gamera to Mechagodzilla and you’ve got a game littered with fan service that was clearly made by people who love the property. In fact, the silly tale, ludicrous dialogue, and wooden voice acting only adds to the nostalgia value for Godzilla fans. this is the definitive version of this game, the PS3 version falling short with a smaller roster of kaijus (which are actually playable in king of Kaiju mode for ps4, whereas only then big G is selectable in the ps3 offering) so if you want ALL the. If you like the gameplay, well, that's a good thing. but there's not much variety to the formula. You can only collect Kaiju DNA after defeating them in battle, and it's pretty scarce so if you want to level-up G and his posse of Kaiju, there's a fair bit of grinding here. Evolution mode lets you upgrade your Kaiju, but at a cost. If you like your gahsapon, you're in for a treat. Diorama mode is fun where you get to arrange miniature toys of the monsters in mini city-scapes and take pics. One great game mechanic is that G always starts out at 50M, and the more you destroy cities, army troops, even battle Kaiju, the more G grows until you get over 100M and come back as burning Godzilla to face off against the 2014 legendary beast himself. Multiple pathways mean you rarely travel the same places in repeat play throughs, unless you're a sucker for punishment and go the hard routes every time (or wuss out and go the easy routes instead). The addition of HD cutscenes when encountering the Kaiju on PS4 is awesome! This game really shines in co-op too, but the solo campaign is where the meat is at. but also for PS4 to play as playable monsters, including Spacegodzilla, Battra, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Anguirus, and Rodan. The new 2014 King of the Monsters in his appearance of the new PS3 game, based on the SH MonsterArts figure that is coming out soon.
